The Department of Education has released PSLF data for June to October 2022. In the “PSLF Portfolio” tab of the Excel document, you can see how many “Unique Borrowers with PSLF discharges processed “PSLF, TEPSLF, and waiver” for PSLF forms submitted between 11/09/2020 to those months (June – October 2022). The numbers are especially disappointing in October:
- November 9, 2020 to July 31, 2022: 189,956 unique borrowers with PSLF discharges
- Increase of 25,401 from previous month
- November 9, 2020 to August 31, 2022: 210,240 unique borrowers with PSLF discharges
- Increase of 20,284 from previous month
- November 9, 2020 to September 30, 2022: 231,859 unique borrowers with PSLF discharges
- Increase of 21,619 from previous month
- November 9, 2020 to October 30, 2022: 233,320 unique borrowers with PSLF discharges
- Increase of 1,461 from previous month
From above, we see only an additional 1,461 unique borrowers with PSLF discharges between September 2022 and October 2022. Hopefully this is due to the recent change in the official PSLF servicer from FedLoan Servicing to Mohela, so that in the near future, things will smooth out and return to a higher rate of discharge.
